Newsletter #22 : Seven New Games

[This is a back-issue of this website’s newsletter]

In line with my plans for a big ‘fractions’ section, I’ve made versions of the Equivalent Fractions Quiz so that other fractions skills can be tested. So, please be introduced to…

All of these quizzes now have an “Ocean” theme, as well as the “Space” and “Fantasy” themes that I first put into the Equivalent Fractions Quiz.

Now, I said 7 new games, but that’s only 5 new quizzes. Seven minus five makes….?

That’s right! Thanks to Hooked Media, I’ve been able to quickly put up some extra online games with a mathematical twist.

  • Math Pathways is a game where you try to get from one side of a grid of numbers to the other, by applying a sequence of mathematical operations.
  • Math Lines is a bit like Zuma – a row of colorful marbles worms its way across the screen – you blast away at them with matching marbles before they reach the other end of their twisty path. In Zuma, you need to match colors. In Math Lines, you need to make neighboring marbles add up to 10.

Have a go at these games. They’re good for kids to learn from, and also good for adults who want a bit of relaxing fun.
