Popping up all over the internet are hundreds of virtual worlds - places where people can interact and play games in an online universe. There are also dozens popping up designed especially for kids. In a kids' virtual world, the conversation is monitored, and the software prevents kids from identifying themselves. Younger kids will also need a parent to approve the child's signing up.
I hope to collect together links to a few kids' virtual worlds, and set up a way for people to vote for which ones they like best. In the meantime, here's the first on the list : a virtual world called Secret Builders. In this world, there's an opportunity for kids to chat with historical characters, and learn a little about history. The most mathematical games they have are some puzzle games. Apart from that, players can join quests and uncover treasure, and collect pets and other accessories. Bookmark this page, so you can always find your favorite virtual world again!
