Mathematics and Music – is there a link?<\/p>\n

Whatever the answer to that question, here’s a link to a page where I show how to create music using math<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On the page, I explain how to use a purely mathematical method to create a melody – a melody that, like the music of human composers, has just a dash of repetitiveness mixed in with just a tad of irregularity, in just the right proportions to sound, well, nice.<\/p>\n

If you’ve always dreamed of being a composer, but your efforts so far always sound tacky, drop over to the web page<\/a> and try the method explained there. There’s a lot of choices you can make when applying the method, so there’s a lot of mathematical melodies waiting to be found.<\/p>\n

As well as a written explanation of the method, I’ve created a video explanation. I’ve embedded the video in the page, and it gives you a chance to hear what I got. It’s not the next Gangnam Style, but it is kinda catchy. You can also download an mp3 of the music, a MIDI file, and printable sheet music so that (if you wish) you can use it as the basis for your own compositions.<\/p>\n

By the way, I posted this game on my blog<\/a> rather than on the main site<\/a>. No particularly good reason for that, I just started writing a blog post and it grew and grew.<\/p>\n
