Welcome to the 40th email from Dr Mike’s Math Games for Kids, announcing the 84th of the free math games and resources on the site : Mancala!<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Mancala is a traditional game, played all over the world. It has many variations, and many names – you might know it as Kalah, Oware, Bantumi, Congkak or something else. Players take turns picking up seeds from a hole in the board, and dropping the seeds one by one into other holes. See the web page<\/a> for more detailed rules.<\/p>\n

The rules are very simple, but the strategy can be very complex. I actually made this game even before I started the math games website – then found, to my dismay, that it only worked with old web browsers. Finally, in the past month, I took the time to fix it up, to revive my old game again \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

So, hop over to the site<\/a> and pit your wits against your computer. If you can beat level 6, you are doing very very very<\/em> well!<\/p>\n

In other news<\/strong>, Dr Mike’s Math Games for Kids has enjoyed a bit of coverage in the press this past month. I’ll tell you more about that later – there’s something even more exciting I want to tell you about first : Timez Attack 4!<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Timez Attack is one of my favorite math PC games. If you’ve been reading these emails for a while, you already knew that – it helped my son become the class times tables champ in grade 3. What you might not have known is that the people who make Timez Attack have now released a new version<\/a>. I quickly got my copy – and it looks like they’ve really been burning the midnight oil, packing the game with new levels, and new educational features. read my blog post<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n
