It has many variations, and many names – you might know it as Kalah, Oware, Bantumi, Congkak or something else. Players take turns picking up seeds from a hole in the board, and dropping the seeds one by one into other holes. See the web page for more detailed rules.

The rules are very simple, but the strategy can be very complex. I actually made this game even before I started the math games website – then found, to my dismay, that it only worked with old web browsers. Finally, in the past month, I took the time to fix it up, to revive my old game again 🙂

So, hop over to the site and pit your wits against your computer. If you can beat level 6, you are doing very very very well!

In other news, Dr Mike’s Math Games for Kids has enjoyed a bit of coverage in the press this past month. I’ll tell you more about that later – there’s something even more exciting I want to tell you about first : Timez Attack 4!

Timez Attack is one of my favorite math PC games. If you’ve been reading these emails for a while, you already knew that – it helped my son become the class times tables champ in grade 3. What you might not have known is that the people who make Timez Attack have now released a new version. I quickly got my copy – and it looks like they’ve really been burning the midnight oil, packing the game with new levels, and new educational features. read my blog post for more information.

Well, that’s all for this note.
