[DMMGFK #64] Word Games and Holiday Games

[This is a back-issue of this site’s newsletter]

Holiday time is approaching!

I’m starting a brand new site of games – Dr Mike’s Word Games for Kids. It’s really too early to launch it yet, but the first two games on there are great games for the holiday season.

If you’re going on a long car trip with young kids, you can while away some hours with a game of I Spy With My Little Eye. The page has some tips for how to make this game accessible even for younger kids who haven’t started to learn how to spell. And do drive safely.

When you get where you’re going, and you’re indoors with friends, you might like to try a game of Snabble. Also called Snatch Scrabble, this is a fast-paced annagramming game that just needs a set of Scrabble Tiles to play.

Don’t forget that Dr Mike’s Math Games for Kids has a free, printable Advent Calendar. If you were thinking of getting one but haven’t had the time, visit the site now to download, print and make up your own.

Speaking of saving time, a lot of people find online shopping a lifesaver. Now I don’t have an online shop, we’ve posted a few things on Zazzle.com. And, of course, Amazon.com has an enormous range of stuff, including educational games.

Or, if you have more time and less money, people will appreciate something unique and creative that you make. There are a zillion ideas out there on the net, let me just point to a couple on my site : the Fraction Dominoes and the Printable Board Games.

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday season. May it be, for you, a stress-free (well almost!) period filled with good times with family and friends!

Yours,
Michael Hartley
